Care Instructions

Liminal pieces are finished with Rubio Monocoat Oil Plus 2C, a natural, environmentally responsible oil that enhances the wood's grain while creating an extremely durable, long-lasting surface.

Our finishes are designed to integrate into everyday life with ease—no heavy maintenance, no refinishing cycles, just simple care that keeps your furniture looking beautiful for years to come.

There should never be a need for a full re-coat or messy re-sanding.

Caring for your wood furniture is simple and straightforward.

Keep surfaces clean and free of dirt and grit, which can gradually wear down the finish over time.

Avoid sliding heavy objects across the surface, as trapped particles can cause scratches.

Protect the wood from heat and moisture by using coasters and trivets. Be especially mindful of plant pots, where water can become trapped.

Protection

Use coasters, trivets, and avoid placing plant pots directly on the surface to prevent stains and heat damage.

1

Cleaning

Wipe surfaces with a clean, slightly damp cloth. Always remove moisture immediately and let the surface dry completely before placing items back. For stubborn grease or oil, use Rubio Monocoat Soap.

2

Refreshing Wood Surfaces

Every 3–5 years, restore the satin sheen with Howards Feed-N-Wax or Rubio Monocoat products like Renew or Universal Maintenance Oil. Apply evenly, let sit 15–20 minutes, then wipe off excess. Repeat lightly after a few hours if needed, and let dry 24–36 hours before use.

3

Spot Removal

Black spots or tannin stains can appear from moisture, metal, or alkaline solutions, like cans or plant pots. Use Tannin Remover on oiled, waxed, or untreated wood to remove stains safely.
